Christmas and the Current Snow Situation
Sunday, November 23, 2008
Hooray!
2 things to be excited about:
1. For the past 5 nights, Lucas has only woken up once during the night. We'll put him down around 10:30 and he'll sleep for 3-4 hours. Then I'll feed him (usually for around 45 minutes) and we'll put him back down and he'll sleep for another 4-5 hours! I'm really hoping this continues. I can handle having to get up once during the night. It's much better than the first couple of nights home when he was up every 45 minutes and I got a total of maybe 3 or 4 hours of sleep for the night.
2. On Wednesday, just out of curiosity, I decided to try on my pre-pregnancy jeans. I just thought I'd see how long it was going to be before I could even think of wearing them. So, I tried them on, with rather low expectations and.... THEY FIT! Wahoo! One week after having the baby and my jeans fit again. Yay for me!

1. Tug boat- Because when he farts, he does lots of little ones in a row, and it sounds like a tug boat putting along.
2. Roto Rooter- Because he is always "rooting" around looking for food.
3. Milk o' holic, or Milk drunk baby- You have to see him when he starts to fall asleep eating. He eyes start to roll back in his head so he looks cross eyed, and he starts to leak milk out of the corners of his mouth. So funny.

Happy First Day of Fall and 32 Weeks
Now, I know it's been over a month and a half since we've posted on here, but I couldn't let the first day of fall go by without posting. I love fall. It is by far my favorite season. It appears as though Rexburg got the hint that it was fall and for once decided to display the corresponding characteristics of the season. A few trees I saw today had dropped their leaves, others were starting to change color, and the air was crisp. This was by no means even close to a New England fall (which I'm now missing for the 7th year in a row) but sometimes you have to take what you can get. Someday I'll make it back there during October. Hooray for the color and crunch of leaves, crisp air, apple cider, and hoodies!
And on another note, today we reach the 32 week mark.... only 8 more to go. I still feel like there are so many things to do but I'm starting to think it will always be that way so I might as well just say good enough is good enough. We do have the carseat, stroller, crib, and an assortment of clothes and other essential and not so essential items. There are still a few things I want to make and or get (the most essential being diapers and wipes). It will all come together in the end... and if it doesn't, we'll make do.
By request, here is a picture, taken today, for all those who have missed seeing my growing belly.

And all that jazz..
It has been OK... (OK I sound like crap.. I'm sure I'm hitting notes that only dogs can hear.)
It is as hard as I remember it being.
So I think I might be a musical pack rat. This violin puts me up to a grand total of 13 instruments. (a drum set, bass guitar, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, accordion, 5 harmonicas, a djembe, bongos, and of course the violin.) Do they have a group called Instrument-oholics Anonymous?

Electronics...
I don't know why it stopped working. Maybe it fried, maybe it wanted to be payed. Either way, it was dead. I called up the return hot line and they gave me my money back and told me to just "throw it out." Of course I didn't.
We went to walmart and bought a replacement router that runs like a champ. With a working router in place I thought to myself, "Self.. Now that you have a free broken router, you should at least try to fix it.." I tried every thing short of beating it and nothing worked.
Finally I plugged it in to my laptop, looked at it in a moment of pondering, and then proceeded to beat the crap out of it over my knee.
After about the 10th hit all the lights blinked on.
Needless to say we have two working routers now. Why the beating of machinery can sometimes make it work I'll never know.

Happy National Doughnut Day!
Anyway... Jeff called me just after I got to work this morning to tell me today is National Doughnut Day. Who knew, huh?
Here and here are a couple links to some more info about it and if you're lucky, you live close enough to a Krispy Kreme where they're giving away free doughnuts today. So, enjoy your free doughnut and Happy National Doughnut Day!

Jeff and his hobbies...
Through my numerous exploits, and due to a very limited budget, I've learned to be inventive. There are many ways to get professional results, in whatever it is you may do, for a cheap price.
Needless to say my cheap inventions have filled every crook and nanny of our apartment. Maybe it's time to spring clean...
Sometimes we find project attempts that never reached critical mass. Its not that I never finish a project that I start, (*cough*) or that half my projects end up being more expensive than I originally thought (*cough cough*). I just get distracted by another project. I just have too many ideas swirling around in my head, constantly battling for my attention, hoping one day that they will be created...
Crap... My prescription ran out...

Whats new?
In other news, it snowed this weekend. For those of you keeping score at home, our first snow of the season cam at last conference. That means we have had 6 months of snow here in Rexburg. Lets see if we can go for an even 8. Ugh... Kill me now!
Not much else is new right now, so keep an eye out for future updates.
